Service Credit Union launched the Service CU Impact Foundation to increase its efforts towards community giving and promoting initiatives that benefit the areas it serves.
"With giving back at the core of everything we do, it was critical for us to have a dedicated arm with which we could support our critical initiatives," said Service CU President-CEO David Araujo, who serves as foundation president/chair. "The Service CU Impact Foundation promotes community development by funding initiatives that deliver solutions and solve problems facing our membership and communities in which we serve."
Service Credit Union, based in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, partners with providers in education, human resources and those who deliver emergency care for veterans and the military. The foundation will also focus on shelters and supportive housing as well as resources like clothing and furniture. Additionally it will also supply financial and emergency assistance for veterans in the form of suicide risk intervention and prevention.
Service CU opened up the foundation website in April 2020, which allowed members to donate to nonprofits that provided assistance for those impacted by COVID-19. It also plans on hosting a charity golf classic event.
